ME
I was dropped on earth in Munich in 1973. Growing up in bavaria opens up a lot of outdoor sports possibilities in the Alps and lakes, including snowboarding, windsurfing, surfing and skateboarding. These sports inspired me most, so I always wanted to shoot them as I had a feeling for them. I’ve always known what the adrenaline rush is like.
I got my first Photo-camera(35mm) when I was 14 and used my dad’s SLR until I could afford my own Canon. My little photo lab got me deeper into photography by analyzing the good and bad results. Photography became my real passion, but I studied medicine for three years, got bored with that and wanted to do something creative instead. The start of my carrer has been photography for magazines and an small advertising agency, followed by sportswear companies. After doing a few of those jobs I decided to study mediadesign and informatics to be ready for the new Age of digital photography.
My personal joy is to work closely with athletes/people and try to find the angle how the core sees their sport – to add their thinking and energy to my pictures. The fascination of being able to freeze action, the part of a sec. in single image, is exactly what gives me my drive. Missing a good shot is never an option. Whatever it takes, wherever I can find a better angle, I will go for it. It’s worth it? I’ll risk it ! – no matter if I have to run, jump, climb or dive to get the picture. Photography is my love, my essential, my spirit, my memory.
